JAMMU:  The MHAC Nagbani and JP World School won under-17 and under-14 basketball title respectively in the two-day inter-school boys’ competitions of Jammu District held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at MA Stadium, here on Saturday.

In the under-17 final, Nagbani outplayed St. Francis Akhnoor 18-03 in a one-sided contest. Earlier, in the semifinals, played today, Nagbani defeated KC International 20-12 while St. Francis trounced St. Peter School 20-14.

In the earlier round of quarterfinal, MHAC Nagbani beat DPS 14-08 while KC International beat JK Public School Kunjwani 13-10. Similarly, St. Francis downed KC Public School 18-06 and St. Peter registered 14-07 win against Stephens International School.

Meanwhile, in under-14 age group, JP World beat KC Public 24-20 in the final. In the semifinals, JP World School trounced Heritage School 18-13 while KC Public outplayed Army Public School (APS) Sunjwan 20-16.

In other boys’ event of handball, Heritage School won the under-14 title beating APS Miran Sahib 8-3 in the final played today at Mini Stadium, Parade, here. Earlier, in the semifinal, APS Miran Sahib defeated St. Peters 6-5.

Later, in under-17 boys’ handball final, Rainbow Public School beat St. Peter 16-10. In a preliminary round game of semifinal, Rainbow trounced BSF School Paloura 11-07.

The matches were officiated by the technical panel comprising Rajesh Bandral, Amit Kalsi, Vishal Bharti, Vaneet Pangota, Mousami Verma (basketball) Ajay Sharma, Chander Shekher Datta, Gourav Sharma, Satika Sharma, Jyoti Sharma and Anita Thakur (handball).
