JAMMU: A large number of contractual employees, working under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in various parts of the State, on second consecutive day, Tuesday, staged a protest at Exhibition Ground near Press Club in support of their demand for regularisation.
“We were engaged under the central job scheme in different capacities, but there is still no policy on regularisation,” protesters said.
The contractual employees threatened that if the government does not come up with a job policy for them, they would go on hunger strike.
State President of the Association, Sandeep Kalotra, Parvez, Tariq Zarra, Sachin Gupta. Jatinder Singh, Zaffar Mahmood, Shakir Hussain, Mohd Ishfaq, Sajad Butt and Sibtain Ansari addressed the protesters.
