JAMMU: Member of National Commission of Scheduled Castes Government of India, Dr. Anju Bala conducted a review of matters related to the safeguards for Scheduled Castes in connection with Department of Posts, Jammu and Kashmir circle on Friday.
The review meeting was held in conference hall of Deputy Commissioner Office in presence of Rahul Pandey Deputy Commissioner of Kathua district and other senior officers.
Col Vinod Kumar Postmaster General Jammu along with his team of officials presented the report of position of SC officials in Jammu.
Dr. Anju Bala reviewed the vacancy position in postal offices, roaster management and system of settlement of public grievances related to the sc officials.
Member appreciated the meticulous work done by the postal department and systematic record maintenance in respect of schedule caste officials.
Col Vinod Kumar explained that Postal Department has adapted the army system wherein officers take tea with their members of staff and also interact with them at least once in a fortnight. In this manner any official can discuss her/his grievance directly to the officer, this method of ‘Chai Pe Charcha’ was appreciated by the Dr Anju Bala.
Other matters like reservation in promotion and direct recruitment were also discussed during the meeting and found all polices are implemented in Jammu and Kashmir circle.
Shahnawaz Khan Assistant Postmaster General, Vinod Kumar Postal Assistant, Ram Lal PA and Manoj Das Postal Assistant Jammu were also present in the review meeting.
Dr Anju also explained that the national commission has power to inquire about the specific complaints with respect to the deprivation of the rights and safeguards of the Scheduled Castes across the country.
Commission presents report to the president annually and at such other times as the commission may deemed fit, reports upon the working of those safe guards.
Dr Anju Bala was found so pleased about the constitution of departmental committee system of postal department, in which one officer form Scheduled caste is mandatorily made a member, so that interests of SC officials can be protected properly.
SK Singh Director NCSC also intimated that grievance settlement mechanism should be in place so that if there is any problem then officials can bring into the notice of the senior officers.
