SRINAGAR: President of People Democratic Party and Member Parliament Mehbooba Mufti has been accorded the status of a Senior Leader and allotted second row as per the seating arrangement in Lok Sabha released by Speaker’s office. She will be seated in the row Rahul Gandhi, Kamal Nath, Congress deputy leader Amrinder Singh, NCPs Tariq Anwar are occupying. This is for the very first time that any MP from J&K will sit in the company of senior leaders. Mehbooba is a law graduate from Kashmir University and is credited to have revived PDP at the time when the political fortunes of the other parties were still on the upswing in the valley. Beginning her career in 1996 with the Indian National Congress she later formed PDP along with her father and went on to enter Parliament in 2004 to become the youngest women politician from the state.
