Meeting to review cable TV digitisation held in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR: To implement and switchover of existing Cable TV Operator Network(Analog) to the Digital Addressable System(DAS) in District Udhampur, Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Vikas Sharma convened a meeting of members of all registered private Local Cable Operators(LCOs) and District Level Monitoring Committee .
Discussions were held on various issues, which include replacing of analog system by Digital Addressable System, plan and strategy of LCOs regarding digitisation , submission of area wise data base by LCOs, problems faced by LCOs at ground level, to oversee and monitor the progress of the implementation of DAS in Phase III of the programme etc.
During the meeting, ADC stressed upon cable operators for early replacement of Analog cable operation system by Digital Addressable System so that a quality signal would be provided to the subscribers of cable network. He said the programme of digitisation was launched throughout the country in 2012 and in the first phase digitisation of four metro cities was completed. Besides, in second phase 38 major cities were covered under the programme and he said that under third phase entire municipal areas of the district would be covered under the programme for which 31st December, 2015 has been fixed as cut off date. He emphasised for the generation of awareness among general public regarding DAS programme. For the purpose he stressed for launching of mass awareness drive among subscribers for switchover to digital mode regarding launch and benefits of DAS in print and electronic media.
Additional SP, Kahlil Poswal, Executive Engineer EM and RE, Sandeep Sethi, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Arun Sharma, Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council, Udhampur, Head Post Master Udhampur, representatives of BSNL, Govt. Women College and cable operators of the district were also present in the meeting.
Meanwhile migration of analog system of TV transmission through Cable to Digital Addressable Mode in all the municipalities and rural areas of district Ramban under Phase III was reviewed by DDC Ramban Farooq Shah Bukhari in his office chambers at Ramban.
DDC discussed in detail the digitisation process with all the participants. Representatives of digital and cable television networks attended the meeting.
