POONCH: A meeting of nodal officers for various election related activities with ECI’s observers to review the preparedness for the forthcoming Assembly Elections-2014 was held here on Wednesday.
General Observer, Surankote, Shivnarayan Singh Chauhan, General Observer, Mendhar, Hari Shankar Upadhayay, Police Observer, Nelli Kumar Subramaniam, Expenditure Observer, Kadam Vijay Tukaram, Senior Superintendent of Police, J.S Johar, Additional District Development Commissioner, Arvind Sharma, Additional Deputy Commisoner, Mumtaz Ali Chowdhary, RO, Mendhar, Ramesh Kumar, RO, Poonch Haveli, Shokat Mahmood Malik, RO, Surankote, Ashok Kumar besides all the nodal officers attended the meeting.
In the meeting, the District Election Officer (DEO) M.H Malik in a detailed presentation of the District Election Management Plan briefed the observers about basic facilities at polling stations, training of polling personnel, appointment and training of sector and zonal officers, randomisation of polling personnel and EVMs, expenditure monitoring cell, SVEEP, paid news scrutiny and media monitoring cell, complaint redressal, material management, law and order, security plan, contingency plan for polling stations along the LoC besides meetings held with the political parties and media persons.
General Observer, Mendhar, while ascertaining the details of contingency plan for voters living close to the LoC asked the DEO to ensure that all the voters living along the LoC are informed about the plan well in advance. He also asked respective ROs to ensure basic minimum facilities in all the polling station.
Reviewing the communication plan, General Observer, Poonch Haveli, asked the DEO to ensure a reliable communication plan in all the polling stations on the poll day.
All the nodal officers were asked to ensure a free and fair election by adhering to the Model Code of Conduct in letter and spirit.
