Medical screening camp for breast, cervical cancer held

JAMMU: As a part of its endeavour to provide facilities for a healthy and meaningful life for its members, the Jammu Club in association with SMVD Narayana Super Speciality Hospital, Katra, organized an awareness programme for cancer on the World Cancer Day on 4th February at Jammu Club.
On the occasion senior doctors from the hospital Dr. Geetanjali Gupta – Radiologist, Dr. Sandeep Kaul – Onco Surgeon, Dr. Raksha Sharma – Gynecologist and Seema Khajooria Shekher, Senior Additional Advocate General, Member, Managing Committee of Jammu Club addressed the audience of Jammu Club.
Vote of thanks was given by the Honorary Secretary, Raman Samnotra.
As a follow up action, a free three-day medical screening camp for breast and cervical cancer for its lady members is being organized from 10th to 12th February, 2017 at Jammu Club from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM. On the first day, screening test like mammography, ultrasound etc. were done in the mobile screening unit of the hospital in the Club premises.
On the first day, 35 members availed the facility and no case of cancer was detected.
The Jammu Club Management expressed its gratitude to the hospital and the team of doctors and technicians for having taken such an initiative for this noble cause. It is expected that more members would avail of the facility on 11th and 12th February 2017.
