Media Cricket Club Jammu defeats RPHQ J&K Police-XI in exhibition match

JAMMU: Media Cricket Club Jammu defeated RPHQ J&K Police XI by eight wickets in an exhibition match played at University grounds, here on Sunday.
The match and ongoing tournament is being organised under the supervision of Shakti Kumar Pathak, DIG Jammu, Samba, Kathua range.
SSP R K Katoch Captain of RPHQ XI won the toss & elected to bat first but his decision soon backfired as Arpit was out cheaply on 5 runs. Anil and Kishore tried to consolidate the innings but clever bowling changes by Vivek Suri (Captain of Media Cricket Club Jammu) kept the lid on runs and RPHQ XI scored 102 runs in stipulated 16 overs for loosing eight wickets. Kishore scored 36 and Anil made 19 for the team. For Media Cricket Club Jammu, Vivek Suri, Faheem, Ashish, Naseer and Rohit shared grabbed one wicket each. Vivek Suri was brilliant in field and was instrumental in two run outs.
Chasing 103 runs in 16 overs, Media Cricket Club Jammu lost in form vice captain Amit Kumar on 2 runs but Rajesh Dutt and Naseer played sensibly before Naseer was out on 20 runs. RPHQ XI bowlers tried to make inroads but Rajesh and Faheem rotated the strike and kept the runrate in check.
The both shared unbeaten 59 runs partnership and chased the target in 15.1 overs thus winning the match by 8 wickets. Faheem scored 33 runs and Rajesh Dutt scored 31 runs for MCC. For RPHQ XI Deepak and Arpit claimed one wicket each.
SSP Rajinder Katoch, Staff Officer to DIG JKS range, said that under Civic Action Programme such tournaments are being organised by J&K Police to engage youth in sports activities and away from drugs.
He congratulated Media Cricket Club Jammu for winning the match which was played in a very cordial atmosphere.
