Mechanical engineers meet PHE Minister

JAMMU: A deputation of J and K Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA) led by its President Firdous Bhat met Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Sham Lal Choudhary and apprised about the utilisation of mechanical engineers for meeting the future challenges of the State as the natural sources of water are depleting at exponential rate.
The delegation apprised the minister about widening the scope of mechanical fraternity in PHE, I&FC Department for supplying drinking water to every common man and to cover the uncovered areas of Irrigation Department for faster development of State.
The delegation expressed urgent need for creation and expansion of Mechanical Divisions/ Sub-Divisions in both PHE and Irrigation Wings of the Department as there is only one Mechanical Division for almost every four districts on an average across the J and K State.
The delegation requested the minister for creation of Mechanical Divisions/ Sub Divisions in PHE, I and FC Department in Leh and Kargil Districts as well.
The creation of separate posts of Chief Engineer Hydraulic (Mechanical) in PHE, I&FC Department one each for Jammu and Kashmir Division will bring better and effective public deliverance.
The delegation further apprised the minister about the need for creation of full-fledged Dredging Division across the length of River Jehlum as in today’s mechanised world it is important to utilise the modern machinery to save time and money and for better safety and welfare of the State. The minister was requested that mechanical infrastructure should be handed over to mechanical technocrats for better maintenance and effective operation. Moreover, the minister was requested to fulfill all vacant posts of mechanical engineers at all levels.
Minister gave patient hearing to the deputation and assured that the problem of mechanical engineers will be redressed in time bound manner.
