Measures afoot to improve power transmission: Dy CM

SRINAGAR: The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh on Tuesday said that the government has taken various measures to improve the existing transmission network of electricity under various programmes.
Replying to a question of Qaiser Jamsheed Lone in the Legislative Council, the Deputy Chief Minister said that an amount of Rs 100 crore has been reserved for improvement of HT/HL lines and concerned Deputy Commissioners have been nominated as nodal officers for the same.
Dr. Singh informed that Rs. 1 crore was released in every district per year during the past three years. He said that the same has been released for improvement of the HT/HL network in Kashmir valley during current fiscal as well.
The Deputy Chief Minister further said that HT/HL network at many places is in deteriorated condition. He said that the poles and conductors are old and worn-out and there is need of their immediate replacement. He added that Rs 6.15 crore have been utilized in last year for improvement of Power Distribution System in the district Kupwara. He said that Rs 62.03 crore has been approved for district Kupwara under DDUGJY scheme. He said to cater to the requirement for improvement of power infrastructure, the R-APDRP, IPDS for urban areas and DDUGJY for rural areas are under implementation in the district.
