JAMMU: “A parent is a teacher at home and a teacher is a parent in school and the child is the centre of our universe.”
To apprise the parents about the role they shoulder in the constructive development of their wards, an orientation programme was conducted in the auditorium of JK Public School, Kunjwani for the parents of students studying in Grades III-V. It was an opportunity for the parents to know about the JKPS differentiators and the bonding with teachers, as the school is a home away from home for their wards.
The parents were briefed about the importance of Preparatory stage in the life of every child by Anju Raj, Coordinator of Primary school. She guided the parents on how to nurture their children by not only focusing on academics but also on learning important skills to succeed in life as the collaborative effort of the school and home, parents, and teachers will definitely help the child in becoming a confident adult.
The orientation programme proved to be a sincere effort made by the school in educating the parents to look after and guide their children in a proper manner. Principal JKPS Kunjwani Rajesh Rathore enriched parents with his pearls of wisdom.
“JKPS Kunjwani grooms students not merely for jobs but for the entire life. We have integrated the components of life skills into our curriculum. Each child must be equipped with the tools of self-awareness, effective communication skills, empathy, inter-personal skills, critical thinking, creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, coping with stress and emotions. Let’s embark on the journey of transforming every child into a thinking individual and make her/him emerge a victor”, he said.
Sharing the strategies to evolve a well-informed persona, he added, “Learning of a few concepts from the languages, science, maths, social science and computers will not be sufficed. One must broaden the ambit of one’s learning. Current affairs, national, international affairs, sports news make an individual well groomed. Children must be trained for general awareness in a systematic manner. Knowledge is the sum total of myriads branches of learning”.
He made a clarion call to parents to make an appeal to the heart of their children before their brains. Connection with heart shall fetch them more lasting results. Emotional bonding is eternal, whereas professional bonding is ephemeral.
He appealed parents to motivate and appreciate their wards for every good deed. He suggested parents to gift books on the birthday of their wards, as a personal library at home becomes a priceless possession for every child. He touched upon various domains of learning pertaining to school education.
In all, it was an extremely fruitful session. The parents requested Principal Rajesh Rathore to conduct such enlightening sessions more frequently, as it would ensure the mentoring of their wards and make them future-ready.
