MCC J&K High Court starts 40-hour online Mediation training for judicial officers

JAMMU: The Mediation and Conciliation Committee (MCC) of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir began second phase of 40 hour online Mediation training programme for judicial officers of Union territories of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh on the first day of opening of Darbar move in Jammu.
The patron-in-chief of the Mediation and Conciliation Committee (Chief Justice J&K HC), Justice Gita Mittal has taken series of measures to make the mediation process vibrant in both the UTs.
The Chief Justice is very particular about the training of all judicial officers and to see them equipped with the theoretical and practical tools and skills to successfully manage and resolve disputes between the contesting parties through proper analysis, mediation and dialogue so as to save litigant parties from financial loss and loss of precious time.
Chairman, Justice Tashi Rabstan, alongwith members of mediation and conciliation committee, Justice Sindhu Sharma, Justice Rajneesh Oswal and Justice Javed Iqbal Wani, have approved and devised the module of the training for Judicial Officers of the twin UTs.
The Chairman has further emphasized the need for training and preparedness of the Judicial Officers so as to reduce the pendency of cases in the Courts especially those cases which are of trivial nature.
Resource persons, who are imparting training through virtual mode, include , Sr. Adv Mr. J.P. Singh, Adv Ms. Veena Ralli , Adv Sumit Chander and Adv. Mitali Gupta.
The various topics in the training module include Bargaining: Mediation in action; Batna and Watna; Communication and Mediation; Interactive Sessions; Empathy with neutrality; Perceptions; Mediation process; Pvt. Session /joint session; Impasse; Role played by the Participants; Settlement writing; Role of referral Judge; cases appropriate and in-appropriate; AND Evolution of law on Mediation .
The Co-coordinator, Masarat Roohi said that the Online Mediation Training Programmes have become possible so frequently under the kind patronage and guidance of Patron -in-Chief, Ms Justice Gita Mittal, The Chief Justice of the High court of J&K and members of the committee. It will be a regular endeavour to organize such Mediation training sessions for all the Judicial Officers of the Union territories, she added.
