MBS women win opening badminton tie
JAMMU: Mahant Bachiter Singh (MBS) College of Engineering and Technology won the women’s inaugural match of the inter-college badminton tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus, here on Monday.
The MBS College women trounced Government Degree College (GDC) Akhnoor 2-0.
The Results: Singles: Incia Anand beat Meenakshi Devi 21-10. Doubles: Jasleen Kour and Reetika defeated Seema and Priya 21-04.
Other scheduled matches in women’s section ended in walkovers. While GDC Billawar got walkover MIET, GCW Udhampur awarded walkover after GDC Mendhar failed to report.
Meanwhile, in men’s badminton competition, GDC Udhampur, GDC RS Pura and GDC Ramnagar won their respective matches to move into the next round of the competition
Today’s matches officiated by the technical penal comprising Vikram Jamwal, Ravish Vaid, Rakesh Verma and Amit Sharma.

GDC Udhampur beat SPMR College of Commerce 3-1: Rajat Gupta beat Kshitij 22-20; Subrit defeated Vishal 21-11. Doubles: Vinayak-Rajt lost to Vishal and Sunil 17-21. Reverse singles: Vipin trounced Amandeep 22-20.
GDC R S Pura beat MIET 3-0: Navjot Digra outplayed Faizan by 21-18; Gulchain Singh downed Shivam 21–09. Doubles: Amit-Balvinder blanked Faizan-Shivam 21-18.
GDC Ram Nagar beat GDC Akhnoor 3-2: Sanjay Singh lost to Chetan Sharma 19-21. Rohit Shama beat Balvinder Sharma 21–12. Doubles: Anesb and Divyan lost to Chetan and Rohit 16-21. Reverse singles: Divyam defeated Susheel Kumar 21–11. Doubles: Sanjay and Jeevan trounced Vikash and Amit 21–07.
