Market checking squad imposes Rs 13,200 fine

REASI: A team of officers under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Reasi on Sunday conducted surprise checking of market in Reasi town and recovered a fine of Rs 7,500 from the erring traders and shopkeepers.
The team comprised of AD CAPD, Tehsildar Reasi, Assistant Commissioner Food and Safety, SHO Reasi, N.T reasi and Food Safety Officer.
Traders and shopkeepers were warned against sale of rotten and stale sweets. They were asked to maintain hygiene and also to display rate lists.
Restaurants in and around the town were also checked and all owners were advised not to use domestic cylinder.
Meanwhile, a team of officers headed by Naib Tehsildar Chanderkot Abdual Zubar along with Tehsil Supply Officer Ramban, Khurshid Ahmed Khan conducted surprise market checking in Chanderkot.
The market checking was aimed to ensure that the essential commodities are supplied at affordable prices and weights to the consumers by the shopkeepers maintaining good quality of food during the holy festival of Eid ul Azah.
The quality of mutton, chicken, fruits, vegetables and sweets was checked and violators were fined and the rotten fruits , vegetales and unhygienic chicken and coocked foods were destroyed on spot.
An amount of Rs 5,700 was realised as fine from seventeen shopkeepers. All the fruit sellers and meat sellers were instructed to keep the meat and other eatables covered so as to protect against dust and unhygienic agents.
