Mankotia terms pay hike of MLAs unjustified

RAMBAN: Expressing serious concern over the total failure of elected representatives to raise the issues of public importance in the J and K Assembly, Balwant Singh Mankotia President JKNPP and former MLA said that these public representative were fighting in the Assembly for the hike of their own salaries instead of projecting the demand of common man including enhancement of honorarium of SPOs, VDC members, Anganwari workers, Asha Workers, daily wagers working in various government Deptts, PHE daily wagers, old age widow and handicap pension. Scraping of new recruitment policy and pending salary of SSA teachers for the last six months was also demanded. He was addressing the public meeting at Sansar area of Ramban district. Describing the decision of Govt. for pay hike of sitting MLAs as unjustified and unreasonable, Mankotia said that State of J and K was presently facing worst ever financial crunch with negligible wages to all daily wagers, SPOs, VDC members, Anganwari works, Asha workers where as legislators hiked their salary from 80 thousand to one lakh sixty thousand per month which is cruel joke with these needy employees. He further said that yesterday Chief Minister has refused to implement Seventh Pay Commission in the State due to financial crisis than how she is justifying the hike in the salaries of legislators. While speaking at Sansar Mankotia accused the State Government for ignoring Sansar and Patnitop the only tourist destination in Jammu province saying that both the destinations are even deprived of basic facilities like drinking water, proper electricity and road connectivity. He said that the road from Patnitop to Sansar and Patnitop link roads should be upgraded with black top at the earliest which are in dilapidated condition, he demanded proper drinking water facility and electricity to left out areas of Sansar and Patnitop and also around the clock power supply to commercial location in these areas.
Vijay Singh a prominent social activist of the area along with thirty prominent persons joined Panthers Party on the occasion.
