Manjit Singh visits flood affected villages along IB
VIJAYPUR: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh on Friday visited flood affected villages along International Border where a recently constructed Bandh collapsed making way for flash floods into the fields in Ramgarh area.
The former minister visited Barota , Kamor, Kamore Camp, Nanga, Rangoor Kamor where the Bandh has collapsed and flood water has entered into the houses and fields of the people damaging their crops.
During his visit, senior Congress leader interacted with the flood affected people and appealed to the government to order a probe as to why the substandard material was used due to which recently constructed Bandh could not sustain the heavy downpour .
He also demanded compensation for the farmers in villages likes Barota , Kamor, Kamore Camp, Nanga, Rangoor and other adjoining areas.
He said that in view of heavy rains the water in the Basanter River has increased and it has become an insecure area for the people to live in.
He appealed that the people should be given shelter in the safer areas as flood water has entered the villages and could cause damage to the property.
Referring to the difficulties being faced by the border people, he appealed to the government to give reservation to the border people so that they can be benefited like people along LAC.
