POONCH: Shaheed DySP Manjeet Singh Memorial Volleyball Club has qualified from district Poonch for the next round of Divisional level competition of the ongoing JKSC Premier League at Sports Stadium, here.
The formidable side of Manjeet Club won all their league ties, courtesy international spiker from Poonch, Saqlain Tariq to their side. Started on day one of the League, the volleyball event has concluded with Shaheed Manjeet Club emerging as leader among the six participating teams.
“With volleyball champion already decided, other three events of Hockey, Kabaddi and Football are near completion. The first ever league has generated a lot of interest among the sportspersons of sports friendly district Poonch. Despite the prevailing adverse weather conditions and freezing temperature, the response from the locals was tremendous,” said Incharge of the event and Manager of Sports Stadium, Nirdosh Kumar.
KABADDI: In Kabaddi, Star Club and Knight Rider won their respective matches. In the first match, Star Club defeated Rising Super Giant by eight points while Knight Rider outplayed Bedar Club Mandi by a margin of 19 points. In another scheduled match of the day, Bedar Kabaddi Club Mandi trounced Raising Super Giant by five points.
HOCKEY: Meanwhile, in Hockey Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hockey Club (BBSBHC) and Sham Lal Hockey Club won their scheduled matches to remain in race for the top position. The BBSBHC blanked Shaheed Bhagat Singh Club in a one-sided contest by 10-0. Salil scored three goals while Noib and Gurjot contributed two each. Shoib and Gunpreet added one goal each to the tally.
In other match, Sham Lal Club inflicted a humiliating 13-0 defeat on Power House Club. Pawan remained in limelight with five goals. Sohail and Shobit were other main scores with three and two goals in their respective accounts. Mukesh, Navjot and Jagmeet added a goal each.
Hockey matches were officiated by Harmik, Rajinder Singh Toofan, Ranveet, Vikas, Sunil and Navjot.
FOOTBALL: In Football, Purani Poonch Club beat Khalsa Club 3-0 and Surankot trounced Chandak Club by two goals to nil.
In today’s events, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Zaheer Kaifi was the Chief Guest.
The technical panel for today’s matches were Rajinder Singh, Tarlochan Singh, Mohinder Bali for football, Sunil Raina,Vikas Sharma for hockey while Nazarat Hussain, Shabir Malik and Ajaz Ahmed were the officials of Kabaddi.
Prominent persons present were Pawan Kumar Lecturer Sorav Sharma PEM, Rajinder Singh PET, Harmik Singh PET and Ramparkash Ground Incharge.
