JAMMU: Mandeep shall be playing against Ritvik Gupta in the final of the junior boys in the ongoing Jammu District Table Tennis Championship at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here on Tuesday.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played on Monday, Mandeep defeated top seed Sunpreet Singh in straight sets of 11-07, 11-08, 11-07 while Ritvik defeated Divyam 3-1 (09-11, 11-07, 11-08, 11-07).
The results: Quarter-finals: Divyam beat Abhay Koul 11-09, 09-11, 11-08, 11-08; Ritvik defeated Adhiraj 11-09, 11-08, 11-09; Mandeep outplayed Asad 11-09, 09-11, 11-09, 13-11; Sunpreet downed Amrit Koul 11-06, 11-06, 11-05. Pre-quarter finals: Sunpreet beat Aryaman 11-07, 11-06; Amrit Koul defeated Ninad11-07, 11-09; Mandeep Singh blanked Ritvik Mahajan 11-09, 09-11, 13-11,14-12; Asad defeated Arnav 08-11,11-09, 11-08,11-08; Divyam beat Ketan 12-14,11-09, 11-08,04-11, 11-07; Abhay Koul outplayed Anuj Gupta 11-09,11-08,11-07; Adhiraj trounced Ashank 11-09,11-02, 14-12; Ritvik Gupta blanked Anirudh 11-07,11-08,11-07.
Meanwhile, in junior girls section, Jhanvi and Shreya have made it to the final. In today’s semi-finals, Jhanvi beat Ashmeet Kour in easy straight sets of 11-04, 11-06, 11-03 and Shreya trounced Surbhi 11-07, 11-07, 07-11, 11-09.
Earlier, in junior girls’ quarter-finals, Jhanvi trounced Archita Kesar 11-07, 11-08, 11-09 while Ashmeet Kour beat Meghna Jain 11-07, 11-07, 11-08. Similarly, Surbhi defeated Bhavya 11-05, 11-06, 11-08 and Shreya trounced Iknoor 11-05, 11-03, 11-06.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical penal comprising Satish Gupta, Narinder Singh and Meenu.
