Man receives splinter injuries in firing incident

KISHTWAR: In a bizarre incident a Forest Guard Ram Lal and his accomplice Rattan Lal opened fire on a woodcutter in a remote area of Tatani Saroor in Kishtwar District.
According to reports , 24 year old Nazir Ahmed son of Mehrab Din resident of Tatani in Kishtwar District went to nearby forest along with Abdul Qayoom for collecting the dry fallen wood, but was intercepted by the forest guard and a private person accompanying him.
According to the victim’s family ,the forest guard after sometime telephonically informed the brother of the victim that the later was seriously injured when he had a fall in the forest. They further said that his brothyer along with others immediately rushed to the spot and found Nazir Ahmed lying in a pool of blood.
Abdul Qayoom had informed Nazir was fired upon by Rattan Lal and his associate and had received bullet injuries on his face, hand and legs.
He said that they immediately brought the matter to the notice of police and shifted him to District Hospital Kishtwar where he is undergoing treatment. He alleged that the forest guard is affiliated with BJP.
Police has registered the case under 174 RPC and started investigation.
When contacted SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir said that police is investigating the whole matter and there is no bullet wound on the body of victim as informed by doctors, adding that victim is not giving any statement to the police when police team visited the hospital several times to record his statement.
