JAMMU: Government MAM College bagged the men’s Foil team event outplaying Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur 15-04 in the final of ongoing inter-college fencing meet, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus here on Wednesday.
Representing MAM College, Saujanya Chib, Satish Kumar and Tariq Ahmed won their respective matches. The Results: Saujanya Chib beat Sandeep Singh 5-1; Satish Kumar defeated Surinder Singh 5-0; Tariq Ahmed outplayed Chahat Singh 5-4.
Two other semifinalist teams of MIET Jammu and GDC Reasi were declared joint third.
First place in men’s Sabre individual event was secured by Javed Ahmed Choudhary of MAM College, who trounced Sushant Kumar of GGM Science College 15-09 in the final. Javed Ahmed of MAM College and Dushyant Magotra of MIET Jammu remained third.
Meanwhile, the women’s Sabre individual gold went to Monika Sharma of Post Graduate (PG) Departments, who beat Diksha Sharma of Government College for Women (GCW) Parade 10-03. Upasana Khajuria and Gunjan Vaid of the same college shared third place.
The women’s Foil individual gold was won by Shreya Chib of GCW Parade after she defeated Pooja Devi of GCW Parade 10-07. Rupali Sharma of MIET Jammu and Priyanka Sharma of GCW Parade shared third place.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical penal comprising Shotu Lal, Rachna Jamwal, Rashid Ahmed, Ajit Singh and Ujjawal Gupta.
