R S PURA: Former MLA and National Conference leader Bimla Luthra on Monday assailed PDP and BJP for ignoring legitimate demands of the down-trodden people by denying and delaying old-age, widow and destitute pensions.
“This has never happened during the National Conference dispensation which always prioritised the implementation of schemes tailored for welfare and empowerment of weaker sections of society”, Luthra said while addressing party workers at Shia Chak Tehsil of Samba District. She referred to the accumulated problems of the people and hoped that the Governor’s administration will look into and address these earnestly. She said instructions are needed to be passed on the all concerned to attend to the problems of people and take all necessary measures in providing respite to them.
Luthra also regretted over neglect in the implementation of Indira Awas Yojna and MGNREGA, saying these anti-poor schemes have witnessed immense setback during the PDP-BJP dispensation as a result village communities have been deprived of the benefits. She urged people to strengthen National Conference at grass roots level, saying this party alone is answer to multitude of problems confronted to the State.
