Lord Buddha, Ambedkar Jayanti to celebrate on May 4

JAMMU: Lord Buddha and Baba Saheb Dr. B. R Ambedkar Jayanti will be celebrated on 4th May in the premises Guru Nabha Dass Community Hall, Dogra Hall, here from 9:30 AM to 12:00 Noon.

This was stated by Sham Lal Bason, President All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch in a press conference, here today.

Sham Lal told reporters that reservation started throughout country with the adoption of Constitution of India on 26th January 1950 but in J&K State the reservation started with the issuance of 37 GR of 1970 with the scarification of Shaheed Amar Nath Bhagat and great struggle of Dalit leaders like Lt. Babu Milkhi Ram, Mahasha Nar Singh and others.

“State Government approved new recruitment policy 2015 where in candidates will be appointed on contractual basis and made permanent after rendering 7 years satisfactory service,” he said adding that there is no mention of provision of reservation.

General Secretary, Narinder Dutt appealed to SC/ST Communities to attend the function alognwith families on 4th May to pay rich tributes to Lord Buddha and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Others present include Dr. Kuldeep Raj, Ram Lal Dogra, Kesar Singh, Parshotam Thapa, Faquir Chand Azad, Swarna Bhagat, B. D. Naryal, Set Paul and Bharat Hans.
