Lok Adalat settles 1,494 cases

KATHUA: A National Lok Adalat was held in the premises of District Court Complex Kathua under the chairmanship of Vinod Chatterji Koul, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kathua.
To settle the cases in the Lok Adalat three Benches were constituted. Bench No.1 comprised of Vinod Chatterji Koul, Pr. District and Sessions Judge Kathua, S.C Katal, Addl. District and Sessions Judge Kathua and Arvind Gupta Advocate Kathua.
Bench No.2 constituted of Amarjeet Singh Langeh Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua, Preet Simran Kour Munsiff JMIC Kathua and Ajat Shatru Sharma, Advocate Kathua.
Bench No.3 consisted of Sunil Sangra, Spl. Mobile Magistrate Kathua, Munish Kumar Manhas District Mobile Magistrate(J) Kathua, Anil Singh, Advocate and Munish Gupta Advocate Kathua. Cases pertaining to criminal compoundable cases, MACT cases, labour cases, bank cases, electricity/water cases, revenue, municipal cases and civil cases were taken up in the Lok Adalat. Compensation worth Rs.10,642,000 was awarded, and recovery of Rs. 3,724,898 was also passed in favour of the banks. Similarly in electricity cases dues worth Rs. 9,810,400 were recovered. Compound money Rs.1,01,800 were recovered.
Total number of 1,739 cases was taken up, out of which 1494 cases were disposed off/settled.
