SAMBA : Acting on the complaint of people particularly from rural areas, the Department of Legal Metrology under the supervision of Astt Controller Anita Sharma booked and fined a cold drink manufacturing unit at Birpur Complex.
The unit was operating without being registered as packer with the Legal Metrology department. Moreover the printed mandatory declarations were not legible on the cold drink bottles and the management was also using unverified weighing and measuring instruments.
The case was compounded on the spot and composition of Rs 10,000 was realised. The inspection team also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on a distillery and a feed manufacturing unit and Rs 2000 on rusk factory at Bari-Barhmana for violation of various provisions of Weights and Measures laws. A total composition of Rs 22,000 was realized.
