LMD penalises Delhi trader

SRINAGAR:  The Legal Metrology Department (LMD) on Monday penalised a Delhi based distributor for an amount of Rs 5000 for selling imported pre-packaged commodities to the Valley without adequate labelling as required under Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) rules 2011.

The LMD officials also ensured to take an undertaking from the distributor that he shall supply the imported products to the retailers of the valley with all mandatory declarations so as to ensure the consumer satisfaction.

The LMD officials said that under LM (Packaged Commodities) Rule 2011 every imported product must carry the mandatory declarations such as MRP (inclusive of all taxes), Net-contents ,PKD, Consumer- care details etc enabling a consumer to take rational decision while purchasing any product.
