LMD imposes Rs 18,000 fine on 18 erring traders

KATHUA: A team of the Legal Metrology Department Kathua headed by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua Ajay Kumar Verma comprising of Inspector Legal Metrology Kathua and Dayalachack conducted intensive checking of various business establishment.
A total of 17 traders were booked for violation of various provisions of J and K Weights and Measures Enforcement (Amendment) Act 2011 and Package Commodities Rules (PCR) and a fine of Rs 18,000 was imposed on them.
The department has directed all the traders to use only those weights and measures and weighing and measuring instruments for Business transactions which have been verified and authenticated by the Legal Metrology Department and ensure that Maximum Retail Price( MRP), Date of Packing ( PKD), net contents and complete address of the manufacturer/ packer and consumer care number have been declared on the commodities to be sold in package form as per PCR.
