UDHAMPUR: On the instructions of the Secretary CAPD , Satish Nehru, the team of Legal Metrology Department Udhampur headed by Assistant Controller, LMD Udhampur, Jaideep Singh Sambyal launched a special drive for checking of CAPD ration depots and other private ration depots at Udhampur .
The team booked Govt Food Store Udhampur and other four ration depots and recovered a fine of Rs 12,500 which include Rs 10,500 from Govt Food Store for short weight and Rs 2,000 from other ration depots for using non standard weights and measures.
The team also warned the salesman of Govt ration depots and private ration dealers to desist from malpractices of less weight to the consumers and also stressed upon them to use digital weighing machines to bring more transparency in the delivery system.
Meanwhile, a team of LMD headed by Assistant Controller, Kapil Jamwal conducted inspection of various business establishments in the district and booked seven traders for violation of Legal Metrology Act and penalty of Rs 8,000 was imposed on the erring traders.
