KATHUA: On the directions of District Development Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar( IAS) a team of the legal Metrology department Kathua headed by the Assistant controller Legal Metrology Kathua Ajay kumar Verma Comprising of Inspector Legal Metrology Kathua and Dayalachack conducted intensive checking of various business establishment especially Gas Agencies , Karayana shops, Gold Smiths, Fruit/Vegtable sellers,Ration Dealers, Atta Chacki,Sweet Shops, Provsional Stores, Bakery Shops, Mustard Oil Dealers,Vishal Mart Dhalli, Dayalachcak, Parkhwal, Deval, Sallan, Chadwal, Partap Nagar, Kalibari, College Road Kathua, Kathua town and adjoining Aaeas during current month.
During Inspection more than 90 traders of various trades were inspected.
A total of 18 traders were booked for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement (amendment) Act 2011 and Package Commodities Rules.
On the request of traders and with the assurance of the traders not to repeat the same discrepancies in future, out of 18 challans , seven Challans of the booked traders were compounded and a penalty of Rs 20700.00 was imposed on the erring traders for violation of different provision of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement (amendment) Act 2011 and Package Commodities Rules.
The Department has also warned the unscrupulous traders to desist away from using unfair trade and anti consumers Practices to cheat the innocent Consumers and also appealed to the Consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing the Commodities.
