Life-imprisonment to father for killing daughter

JAMMU: Principal Sessions Judge Jammu R.S Jain on Friday awarded life imprisonment to an accused for killing her daughter.
According to police, GRP found an unidentified body of a woman aged about 20/21 years in a gunny bag lying unattended in the compartment of Amritsar-Bathinda Express train. A case vide FIR No.12/2013 was registered in Police Station GRP Jammu for offence under Sections 302 and 201 RPC.
During the investigation, on 23rd June 2013 the dead body was identified by one Satinder Paswan in presence of Joginder Paswan and Lakhanpal to be of Rintu Kumari, daughter of accused Ram Preet Paswan, who is living in Channi Rama for the last about 10 years in the house of Joginder Kumar along with his wife and daughter.
The trio which identified the deceased informed the police that on 20th June 2013 in the morning, they found the room of the accused locked and that accused along with his family had left for some unknown destination. “The accused also did not informed anyone at his work place i.e. Food Corporation of India”, they said and added that they know and recognize Rintu Kumari, who was having an affair with one Raju which was not liked by the accused and his wife.
Justice R.S Jain observed that in awarding sentence the Court must look into the crime and the victim besides the circumstances of the criminal and the impact of the crime on community. With this observation, Court awarded imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs.20 thousand for offence under Section 302 RPC in causing the murder of Rintu Kumari. Advocate R.K Kotwal appeared for the accused person.
