LeT ultra arrested in Awantipora, terrorist hideout busted in Shopian

SRINAGAR: Police along with security forces on Monday arrested a terrorist affiliated to proscribed terror outfit LeT and recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition from his possession in Tral area of Awantipora.
He has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Chopan, son of Abdul Rahman Chopan, resident of Lurgam Tral.
Incriminating materials along with arms and ammunition including a pistol, 18 pistol rounds and twomagazines have been recovered from his possession.
Preliminary investigation revealed that he was involved in several terror related activities in South Kashmir Range. Pertinent to mention that he was involved in case FIR No. 114/2024 under sections 16 of ULAP Act 7/27 of IA Act and 109 BNS of Police Station Tral registered related to firing upon one outside labourer, Shubam Kumar, resident of Bijnore UP on October 24, 2024 in which the labourer was critically injured. Further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, security forces busted a terrorists’ hideout in Shopian district, officials here said.
A joint team of police, army, and CRPF in a search operation in Shopian district’s Keller found an abandoned terrorist hideout.
They found cooking utensils and edible material from there, officials said.
