JAMMU: “Charity is an act of kindness, wherein a person who has more than the required amount, contributes a part of surplus income for the fulfillment of the need of those who are less capable”, stated Aastha Sharma from Grade XI A.

“Charity is possible in various forms. The broader meaning of charity is donating money or goods to an organization for the fulfillment of the purpose for which it has been established”, she further added.
Adding more substance to the content, another presenter from the class Tejpal Singh stated, “It is essential to note that charity does not only mean contributing to a charitable organization. There goes a famous saying: Charity begins at Home. This means that it is not enough to contribute money to the charitable organizations alone. Let’s take an example, suppose if your domestic help at home is in dire need of money, you should help him/her, as he/she works for you only. No one in the society will support your domestic help as he/she is your responsibility but anyone can donate to a charitable organization”.
Finally Arshdeep Kaur pitched in by saying, “Charity begets empathy. It’s of paramount importance in today’s materialistic society because it helps us grow as individuals by developing a sense of responsibility, empathy and awareness of the world around us. When we work to address real community issues, like, supporting education for underprivileged children, caring for the environment or assisting the elderly, we develop qualities like kindness, team work and problem solving. We are not just learning from books; we are learning from life.
Principal Rajesh Rathore lauded the endeavours of the students from Grade XIA for creating a positive ambiance during the morning assembly. He said, “Charity is the phenomenon that cannot be described in words. In fact, if we extend our helping hand to a downtrodden person with a pure heart, expecting nothing in return, the Omnipotent will certainly bless us with multifolds of it. We must believe in charity, if we expect anything from God. Without giving others, we have no right to ask for anything from the Lord Almighty.”
Invoking the GenNext, he sought a promise from the audience to be extremely successful in their professional lives ahead and involve themselves in variety of charity initiatives. He appealed to everyone in the audience, “Let each student on the school rolls be a future Charity Ambassador”.
