Learn from Gurus
Dear Editor,
The dastardly attack by the Taliban on a school in Pakistan has benumbed everybody. Those involved in it are nowhere near true religion.
During the times of Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh, Aurangzeb also indulged in such sinful acts in the name of religion. The Guru countered the same by raising the courage of the common masses.
After leaving Anandpur Sahib Fort, he wrote two letters to Aurangzeb, one of which is popularly known as ‘Zafarnama’. In these letters, the Guru explained the true essence of Islam and showed to him that what he was doing was directly opposed to the teachings of Islam. The tone and language was such that even a tyrant like Aurangzeb understood it. It is learnt that he got converted from heart and intended to see the Guru. But before he could reach Guru, he died on the way.
The lessons taught by the Guru should be popularised so that ppeople become true changers and motivate others to shun violence in all form.
