Layakh, Manikarnika win Junior Archery gold

JAMMU: Layakh Dhara and Manikarnika bagged Junior boys and girls gold respectively on the opening day of the 22nd J&K UT Archery Championship, organised by Archery Association of J&K (AAJK) at Green Fields grounds, here today.

Second place in Junior boys group went to Pramjot while Asank and Arshit finished third. Similarly, in Junior girls group, Aryadha Sohan remained second, followed by Pinki Sharma and Sambhavi at third place.
Earlier, around 350 archers from 10 district of J&K turned up for the three-day championship in different age groups of boys and girls.
The championship was declared open by member J&K Sports Council, Rajeev Sharma. Other distinguished guests present were Mohd. Haneef, Chief Sports Officer, Baljinder Singh, DySP Sharat Chander Singh, Vikram Singh (president AAJK, Sunil Sharma(general secretary AAJK) and Ajay Sharma.
The Results: Mini (Under-10): Boys: Hargovind Singh, Ist; Harjoot, 2nd; Stanzin and Nitya Sharma, joint 3rd. Girls: Hetal Rai, Ist; Charandeep, 2nd; Shanaya Sharma and Jas Jasnoor, joint 3rd. Sub Junior: Boys: Paramjoot, Ist; Metansh, 2nd; Ashank and Jeet, joint 3rd. Girls: Manikarnika, Ist; Aradhya Sohan, 2nd; Jiya Salotra and Kalyani, joint 3rd. Sub Junior: Boys: Pramjot, Ist; Ashank, 2nd; Sam and Layakh, joint fourth. Girls: Manjkarnika, Ist; Shambhavi, 2nd; Janvi and Mehroom, joint 3rd.
