Lawyers likely to call Jammu Bandh next week

JAMMU: Up in arms against administration for failing to concede its demands, the J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHCBA) on Tuesday decided to abstain from the work in all the courts and also warned disciplinary action against members who violate the decision.
A meeting of General House of J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, was held on Tuesday under Senior Advocate M K Bhardwaj President, JKHCBAJ, in the District Court Complex, here to discuss the issues facing the lawyers fraternity and for intensifying the ongoing agitation in support of demands/ issues of the Bar i.e. Construction of multi storey building for housing all the judicial works i.e. Registration work, Commissions, CAT, DRT, AFT and other Tribunals within the court premises.
The members of the Bar have unanimously decided to interact with all the sections of civil society, political parties, chamber of commerce, transporters, students and youth.
The meeting will be held within this week so that the Jammu Bandh call can be given in next week, Bhardwaj said.
The General House also unanimously resolved to constitute a committee of senior members of the Bar to guide and advise the Bar with regard to the on-going agitation. Further, General House has resolved that all the members of the Bar will voluntarily abstain from appearing in all the cases in all the courts and any member who violates the decision of the General House will be placed under suspension. It has also been resolved that all the office bearers of the District Bars will be requested for their support so that a successful Jammu province Bandh is observed after the call is given by the Bar. The meeting was also attended by many senior members namely A.V. Gupta, Former President, D.S. Saini, Former President, Aslam Goni, Sr. Adv & Former Advocate General, K. S. Johal, Sr. Adv, Gagan Basotra, Sr. Adv. H.C. Jalmeria, Nirmal Kotwal, Anwar Choudhary and others.
