JAMMU: Continuing it’s ongoing protest, the J&K High Court Bar Association Jammu under the leadership of President Senior Advocate M.K Bhardwaj, on Wednesday again held a bike rally from High Court to Raj Bhawan and decided to suspended court work on August 4 and 5.
The members holding National Flags in huge number reached the near Raj Bhawan amidst raising slogans in favour of their demands and sat on Dharna.
The lawyers’ are protesting for its long pending demand of construction of multi storey building for housing all the judicial work i.e. Registration work, CAT, DRT, AFT and other Tribunals within the court premises.
The lawyers’ community has resolved to keep their protest going on till the redressal of their grievances.
“BAR members held protest outside the Raj Bhawan for hours but none from Lieutenant Governor’s office come to listen to agitating lawyers,” Bhardwaj said and warned not to take their agitation for granted and administration must come with solution to their problems.
Later in the afternoon, the LG Administration sent Additional Deputy Commissioner Satish Sharma, for talks with the team of Association.
An hour long meeting/discussion was held amongst them in which besides office bearers of JKHCBAJ and YLA, many Senior and Young members participated. SP City Kulbir Handa along with senior police officials also attended the meeting. The office bearers of JKHCBAJ resubmitted the memorandum of demands.
The Government officials representing the Administration while admitting that the demands are very genuine assured the team of lawyers that administration shall give utmost priority and due consideration to the demands.
Thereafter in the evening a meeting of office bearers with prominent members of the Civil Society was held who extended wholehearted and full support to the Association.
While speaking on the occasion, the members of the Civil Society were of considerate opinion that the demands projected are not only in favour of Advocates but also in favour of the litigants and public at large.
The demands when fulfilled shall give great relief and convenience to the public.

Qureshi (PDP Party), Rattan Lal Gupta (Provincial President NC), Zorawar Singh (Chairman Team Jammu), Ved Parkash Sharma (President Brahman Sabha), Ankur Sharma (IkkJut Party), Chander Mohan Sharma (Tawi Andolan), Rajan Singh Happy (President, Yuva Rajput Sabha), Vilakshan Singh (Panther Party), Rajinder Singh Taj (President, PHE United Front Daily Wagers), Wazir Singh (PDP), Amrik Singh Reen Sahib (PDP), Gaurav Gupta (Secretary General, CCI), Rajeev Gupta (Vice President CCI), Rajesh Gupta (Treasurer CCI), Rajesh Gupta ( Secretary CCI), Sham Lal Bassan (President, All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch and Corporator Bahu Fort), Gourav Chopra (Congress leader Corporator), Amit Gupta (Corporator), Inder Singh (Comparator), Sanjeev Kumar Sareen (Advocate & Legal Incharge AAP Jammu Province), Hoshiar Singh Chib (PHE), Narinder Singh, Jagdish Kumar Sharma (Corporator Ward No. 2), Rajeev Jamwal (District President Urban Yuva Rajput Sabha) and Raghuvir Singh (Rural President Yuva Rajput Sabha).
The Bar members abstained from work in all the Courts including the High Court, District Courts, Tribunals, all Revenue Courts & Commissions on account of the protest.
All the office bearers namely Mohinder Pal Singh Pali, Vice President, Surjeet Singh Andotra, General Secretary, Aditya Sharma, Joint Secretary, Amandeep Singh, Treasurer, Rohit Sharma (YLA President), Gagandeep Singh Lucky (YLA Vice President), Yaseer Farooq Khan (YLA General Secretary), Karanjeet Singh Johal Joint Secretary (YLA), Naresh Kumar Treasurer (YLA), besides many senior & young lawyers participated in the protest.
The legal fraternity appealed UT Government to redress their grievances expeditiously and don’t force lawyers to go on indefinite strike.
