LAWDA officers, others fall in Vigilance net

JAMMU: The State Vigilance Organisation on Tuesday registered an FIR against the Enforcement Inspector of Jammu and Kashmir Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (J&K LAWDA) and others for allowing illegal construction in utter violation of parameters.
This is the fifth case registered by the SVO against the LAWDA officers/officials under prevention of corruption act.
According to FIR, a verification was conducted by the SVO and it was found that one Ishrat Aslam, son of Mohammad Aslam, resident of Ishbar Nishat working as Enforcement Inspector in J&K LAWDA in connivance with the concerned officers/officials of LAWDA, managed two separate building permissions vide J&K LAWDA order No. 81/Bldg/LDA of 2006 dated September 14, 2006 and No. 85/Bldg/LDA of 2009 dated September 15,2009 in the name of his mother Farooqa Aslam for construction of Garages, Servants Quarter and Compound walling towards Nallah side on plot of land comprising Khasra No. 3813/1546 min situated at Gupt Ganga and for construction of two storied residential house and compound walling on plot of land comprising Khasra No. 2307/1823/556 min situated at Gupt Ganga respectively.
The construction was carried in utter violation with respect to parameters, approved in the building permission.
Besides, it was also observed that the permission obtained in the name of Farooqa Aslam for construction of single storied house with basement floor from Srinagar Municipality Vide No. 665 of 2000 dated August 26, 2000 was also carried in total violation of permission granted in the matter.
The two building raised in the violation of the approved site plan are used as Hotel/Guest House for commercial activities instead of residential house for which permission have been granted by the competent authorities. A separate garage also exists at site for which no permission has been obtained.
The aforesaid acts of omission/commissions on the part of Ishrat Aslam son of Mohammad Aslam, resident of Ishbar Nishat working as Enforcement Inspector in J&K LAWDA, officers/officials of LAWDA / enforcement wing and Farooqa Aslam, wife of Mohammad Aslam (mother of accused Ishrat Aslam ) prima facie constitute offences offence under section 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) Prevention of Corruption Act Svt 2006, and Sections 109,188 and 120-B, RPC and accordingly a Case FIR No. 14/2016, has been registered in P/S VOK and investigation has been taken up.
