Latest gadgets being installed along IB soon: DG BSF

JAMMU: Director General BSF K K Sharma on Wednesday said that use of technology gadgets will soon be introduced to guard India, Pakistan border in Jammu and Punjab Frontiers.
“The latest use of technology gadgets and equipment are being inducted into BSF,” Sharma told media persons here this evening in a press conference during his Jammu visit on the eve of Republic Day celebrations.
The BSF Chief said that the use of technology will be acting as force multiplier and it will provide more effective domination besides relief to troops in way of reducing his burden.
“We are also in process of running a ‘pilot project’ and the Government of India is also backing us in this regard,” said Sharma and added that World class technology will be used to guard borders initially at vulnerable places followed by its use along Indo-Pak border.
On ditch cum bandh proposal, the DG said that it has been put on hold but laser wall all along the IB is a part of the ‘pilot project’, which is among the use of technology.
However, on Pak Rangers backing terrorists, the top officer said, “entire machinery across the border is supporting terrorists whereas launching pads and training camps are very much intact.”
The DG further said that high alert has also been sounded along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Punjab frontiers to foil nefarious attempts.
“In view of January 26 and August 15, troops are put on alert along the borderline in Punjab and Jammu frontiers,” he added.
He also said that attempts are on by the terrorists to infiltrate but border guards are standing tall to foil their nefarious designs. “Last year, all attempts were successfully foiled and one of the major achievements, three militants were also neutralized by alert BSF troops on November 29 last year,” he asserted adding that threat perceptions are there but force is ready to face any challenge and tackle any bid.
Meanwhile the DG also visited the forward Border Outposts in Arnia and Samba Sectors and interacted with the jawans.
