Late realisation

0 30

At last Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre looks to have realised that Pakistan is unreliable when it comes to fighting terror. The remarks of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh that his trust in Pakistan on the issue of fighting terrorism has been “completely shaken” as the kind of support which India expected from it was not coming today. It appears the party leaders are now facing the reality. All their earlier bravados after every militant attack whether it is infiltration in Kashmir, Dinanagar Police Station in Punjab, Hiranagar, Pathankot Air Force Station today it looks were just rhetoric to keep public happy and not meant to initiate any action against the rogue neighbour.  It appears saner sense is prevailing upon BJP leaders and they should come out of ‘Vasudeva Kutumbakam’ concept. Good to realise better late than never that world is ‘No one family’ today. As Modi government completed two years in office, Singh also made it clear that not allowing an NIA team to probe the Pathankot terror strike will amount to “betrayal”. The Home Minister has expressed that trust has been completely shaken. “The kind of support which we should be getting from them (Pakistan) on the issue of terrorism, is not happening. I do not have any hesitation in saying this,” he said. On Pathankot, he said it was mutually agreed “informally” by the two countries that once Pakistan’s Joint Intelligence Team  visits India, an NIA team would be allowed. It is unfortunate no action on Pathankot terror case is visible from Pakistan. Today he feels that Pakistan stance is a betrayal which could be with other party top guns too. India-Pakistan relations were never on  the trust worthy plank. Full of uncertainty and it is surprising that BJP leaders believed in the sincerity of the Pakistan leadership and its notorious ISI. Even Atal Behari Vajpayee too had tasted Pakistan sincerity when he took bus to Lahore and in return India got Kargil in 1999. Why is it that these leaders live in myopic world and believe in rhetoric? Even Modi too has undertaken this route while touring Jammu and Kashmir ahead of 2014 Parliamentary elections. They should desist from such tactics and nor should express dismay and helplessness. It is a sign of weak leadership.
