MANASBAL: Lar XI defeated Boys Cricket Club Sumbal by 39 runs and won the title of T20 Cricket Tournament organised by IRP 8th Bn Manasbal at Sainik School Manasbal under Civic Action Programme, which concluded on Saturday. A total of nine teams of Bandipora and Ganderbal districts participated in the tourtnament.
In the final played on Saturday, Lar XI beat Boys Cricket Club Sumbal.
Batting first, Lar XI scored 153 runs in 20 overs which in reply, Sumbal team failed to chase and managed to score 114 runs for the loss of ten wickets in 17 overs.
Farooq Ahmed, who took four wickets for Lar XI, was declared Man of the Match while Suhail Ahmed of the same team was declared Man of the Series. In closing ceremony, Principal of the host School, Nazir Ahmed Dar was the Chief Guest, who gave away trophies and cricket kits to the winner and runner-up teams in the presence of M.L Mehra, SSP CO IRP 8th Bn, the Chief Organiser of the Tournament.
J.S Johar SSP CO AP 8th Bn, G.L Sharma SP IRP 8th Bn, V.S Manhas SP and other officers including students of Sainik School and locals witnessed the final match.
