Involvement of officials suspected
JAMMU: The Crime Branch on Tuesday filed an FIR for illegally occupying 30 Kanals of land belonging to Jammu Development Authority (JDA) earmarked for proposed Satellite Township at Sidhra in the outskirts of the winter capital.
The CB has booked a Sidhra resident, identified as Shama-ud-Din , who along with his associates grabbed the prime land by making use of a fake No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Sources told STATE TIMES that involvement of some officials in the land grab is not ruled out.
Shama-ud-Din, son of Noor Mai, resident of Majeen Sidhra, Jammu and others have been booked under FIR 22/14 under Sections 420,465,466,467,468,471,120-B RPC. The accused had fraudulently prepared fake NOC, in order to encroach upon 30 Kanals and 13 Marlas JDA land.
According to FIR, Director Land Management, JDA, Jammu lodged a complaint with Crime Branch (CB) wherein it was alleged that forged NOC, purportedly signed by Chairman, JDA, Jammu was prepared and used by the accused for grabbing land under Khasra No. 167 in village Majeen though the land has been acquired under the draft award dated 22nd July 1995 by the JDA for the development of Satellite Township at Sidhra. No NOC had been issued by JDA, CB was told. As per the contents of complaint, it transpired that Shama-ud-Din alongwith some other criminal elements had in furtherance of a conspiracy, dishonestly and fraudulently prepared fake NOC, in order to encroach upon and grab the JDA land illegally thereby cheating the JDA to cause wrongful gain to himself and wrongful loss to the State. Investigation into the case has been set in motion to identify and book the other accused persons, who facilitated Shama-ud-Din to grab the prime land. “We are also suspecting involvement of government officials, who supported the main accused to prepare the fake NOC,” said CB sleuths investigating the case.
