RAMNAGAR: The people of Ramnagar held a strong protest against the Revenue Department and the Auqaf for selling two Marlas of land to one Bashir Ahmed resident of village Kirmoo, Ramnagar out of one Kanal and 11 Marlas of land in Khasra No 240 which pertained to Pathshala. The people of one sect raised slogans against the district administration and Tehsildar Ramnagar for transferring this land illegally.
The protesters said that the land which remained Pathshala till 1986, was grabbed by Peer Baba out of which two Marlas were sold to Bashir Ahmed. The fact came to light when Bashir Ahmed started constructing a shop over this land.
The SDM Ramnagar Ankush Garg, SDPO Deepak Dhingra and SHO Ramnagar Arfan reached the spot and pacified the people. On their demand the construction work was stopped and a stay enforced over this piece of land.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include Nand Mahotra, Sahil Gupta, Vinod Khajuria, Joginder Bangathia, Rajinder Sharma and Surjit Jandial.
