Ladakh women finish second in Ice Hockey

JAMMU: Host Ladakh excelled in Ice Hockey in the just held Khelo India Winter Games at he newly developed modern winter games infrastructure at the Union Territory.

While the Ladakh women bagged silver, the men team remained third to contain with Bronze medal in this National event.
However, players from Kargil played an important role in UT victory. Their performance reflects the rising standard of winter sports in the region and the dedication of athletes from remote and high-altitude areas. Rigzin Yangdol of Kukshow became the first-ever woman Ice Hockey player from Kargil to captain the Ladakh Women’s Ice Hockey Team. Her leadership on the ice stands as a landmark achievement and a source of inspiration for young girls across the region. Men Players from Kargil: Mohammad Ali Baba (Pashkum); Sajjad Hussain (Pashkum); Irfan Ali (Pashkum); Nawaz Ali (Pashkum); Wasim Billal (Drass); Muhaib Mir (Drass). Congratulating the players, general secretary, District Kargil Olympic Association, Syed Mehraj Uddin Shah, extended his heartfelt appreciation to all players from Kargil in particular and team Ladakh in general. He expressed confidence that these athletes will continue to excel in future national and international competitions.
He also congratulated the UT Ladakh Administration, led by Lieutenant Governor, Kavinder Gupta, Chief Secretary, Ashish Kundra, Administrative Secretary (Sports), Moses Kunzang, Joint Secretary, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, and the entire Khelo India Committee for their consistent support in promoting winter sports.
