Ladakh transporters meet Defence Minister

LEH: A delegation of All Ladakh Transport Association (ALTA) led by Member Parliament Ladakh, Thupstan Chhewang met the Union Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman at Raksha Bhawan New Delhi and discussed the problems being faced by Ladakhi transporters.
Chairman ALTA Dorje Angchuk, while presenting a memorandum to Defence Minister on behalf of the transporters of Ladakh, explained the problems faced by the transport cooperative societies in Ladakh in detail and sought the intervention of the ministry for a permanent solution to the problems faced by the transporters in providing service to army in Ladakh region. MP Ladakh proposed and recommended for special concessions to the transporters of Ladakh.
After giving a patient hearing to the delegations, the Defence Minister assured to solve the problems and directed the army authority not to compare Ladakh region with other parts of India nor with Jammu or Kashmir region.
The delegation comprised of Chairman Medium Bus Cooperative Leh, Gyaltsan Tundup, Secretary Ladakh Bus Operators Cooperative Leh, Tsering Angchuk, Chairman Ladakh Taxi Operators Cooperative Ltd Leh, Tsering Angchuk, Secretary Ladakh Transport Cooperative, Nawang Samstan, President Kargil Bus Operators Cooperative Union, Ghulam Hussian and General Secretary 207 Load Carriers, Rigzin Punchok.
