KVKs celebrate World Soil Day

POONCH: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Poonch, under the patronage of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Poonch celebrated World Soil Day today at KVK campus in a befitting manner.

The day has been celebrated all over the world to connect farmer with soils and raise awareness on their critical importance in our lives. Tariq Ahmad Zargar, District development Commissioner Poonch was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

More than 150 farmers from the district participated in the event. Dr. Ajay Gupta, I/c. Sr. Scientist and  Head, KVK; Dr. Muneeshwar Shrama, SMS (Plant Protection) and Inderjeet Singh, DAO and Dr. Muzaffar Mir, SMS (Horticulture) were also present on the occasion.

SAMBA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba celebrated World Soil Day at KVK Samba SKUAST-Jammu with the theme of Sustainable Agriculture in association with the Department of Agriculture and Horticulture, Samba in which more than 600 farmers, farm women and field officers of development departments participated.

The programme was organised under the aegis of Vice Chancellor Prof P.K Sharma and  under the guidance of Dr R K Arora, Associate Director Extension and I/c KVKs.  Rashpal Verma, Vice Chairman OBC was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Dr Vinod Gupta, Senior Scientist and Incharge, KVK Samba, Dr B.S Jamwal, Cheif Scientist & Incharge PRSS Samba,  Dr P.K Rai, Senior Soil Scientist and Narinder Mishra, CAO Samba also delivered  lectures on this occasion. Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Dr Neerja Sharma, Dr Amit Mahajan, Shalini Khajuria and  Dr B.S Jamwal, Chief Scientist & Incharge PRSS Samba were also present on the occasion.

KATHUA: Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kathua under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Kathua celebrated ‘World Soil Health Day’ sponsored by Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

Rajiv Jasrotia, MLA, Kathua was the Chief Guest of the programme and was attended by more than 400 farmers of Kathua district

Dr. Amrish Vaid, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Kathua ; Dr. Vishal Mahajan, Scientist of KVK Kathua; Surishta Devi, Asstt. Soil Chemist, of Department of Agriculture, Kathua; Sanjeev Rai, SDAO, Dayalachak, Satish Sharma, SMS  (Soil Testing Lab) and Sh. Devinder Sharma, DAO (Extension) also shared their experiences with the farmers.

Dr. Anamika Jamwal, SMS, Plant Protection carried out the proceedings of the programme and Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma presented the vote of thanks. Others who attended the programme include Dr. Berjesh Ajrawat, Dr. Saurav Gupta, Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma, . Anita Saproo, S. Satbir Singh and  Bharat Bushan.

RAJOURI:  Krishi Vigyan Kendra , Rajouri organised a special programme to celebrate World Soil Day at KVK Campus, Rajouri. The programme was organised in collaboration with Department of Agriculture, Rajouri and was attended by more than 250 farmers from different areas of the district. Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Vice Chairman, Pahari Advisory Board  (MoS) was Chief Guest of the programme whereas Avtar Singh Chib, ADDC, Rajouri was Guest of Honour. Krishi Pandit Bk. Ganesh Das, Gen. Sec. and Chief Executive, J&K Cooperative Union Ltd. was special invitee in the programme. About 95 Soil Health Cards were distributed jointly by Department of Agriculture & KVK, Rajouri.

Dr. Arvind Kumar Ishar, Sr. Scientist and Head of KVK, Dr. Vishal Sharma, Dr.Vikas Sharma, Dr.Abhay Kumar Sinha were also present. The programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Suraj Parkash, SMS of KVK.

DODA:  On the occasion of World Soil Day, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Doda of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organised a interaction event for creating awareness among masses on the importance of soils at its campus at Gwari, Bhaderwah. The programme started with welcome address by Dr. Narinder Paul, wherein farmers, officers of the departments of Agriculture and Horticulture from Doda district and scientists of KVK and Regional Horticultural Research Station, SKUAST-J Bhaderwah, were brought together to celebrate the World Soil Day. He extended special welcome to Dr. Javed Iqbal, Principal Degree College, Bhaderwah, as the Chief Guest in the programme.

Nasir Ahmad Zargar, District Agriculture Officer (Extension) Doda; Shammi Kotwal, SDAO Thathri and Yograj, SDAO Praanu and Assistant Soil Chemist, spoke on the occasion. Dr. Mahital Jamwal and Dr. Ravneet Kour, (Scientists Horticulture); Dr. Neeraj Kotwal, (Scientist Entomology); Dr. Rohit Sharma and Dr. Amit Charak and Dr. Rohit Sharma, (Scientists Agronomy); Dr. Narinder Paul (Scientist Agricultural Extension) and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, (Scientist Soil Science) also addressed the gathering. Dr. Mahital Jamwal, Sr. Scientist and Incharge of RHRSS, SKUAST-J Bhaderwah and Neeraj Kotwal Paul were also present on the occasion.

REASI: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised World Soil Health Day at its campus in which large number of farmers from different villages’ participated. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist  and Head of KVK, Reasi.  Bodh Raj, Sarpanch, Girdhari Lal, Naib-Sarpanch, Maya Devi, Panch, Davinder Thakur, DD News Correspondent and Arvinder Kumar, Farm Manager  were also present.
