KV No2 Jammu Cantt celebrates annual day

JAMMU: Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) No 2, Jammu Cantonment celebrated Annual Day with great zest and zeal in General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu, here on Thursday.

Brig J.S Rajpurohit, Dy GOC 26 Inf Div and Chairman VMC KV No 2 Jammu Cantt, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Other dignitaries present were Balwant Thakur Regional Director, ICCR, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, AC KVS A.S Gill, senior army officers, Principals of KVs and other schools and parents.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, in the backdrop of the chanting of Vedic Mantras.

The Principal of the School, M. Laxmi Narayan read out the annual report highlighting the activities conducted during the session and the landmarks made by the school in academics as well as curricular activities.

The achievement of both the teachers and the taught were appreciated by the audience.

It was followed by a colourful array of cultural items which were a display of extraordinary talent in the students.

The gathering was mesmerized by the marching dance by the tiny tots of the Vidyalaya and the school Orchestra. The ‘Krishan Leela’ was unique and greatly appreciated  and classical and the South Indian dances forms created a wonderful ambience.

The skit on Child Labour created a much needed awareness. The vibrant beats of the ‘Dandiya’ set the stage on fire with everybody in the audience totally enthralled.

The meritorious students were honoured with certificates and prizes.

The Chief Guest complimented the principal, staff and students on their efforts, and hoped they would create new arenas of accomplishment in the forthcoming session. He praised the wonderful items presented by the students.

The programme was anchored by senior teachers Rita Bhaskar and Amardeep Kour and also by senior students Heeposh, Ekta, Pavni and Areeb.

The vote of thanks was presented by Rita Bhaskar, the senior most PGT of the school.
