Kuldeep Raj calls on CM, raises cause of Pahari community

SRINAGAR: MoS and Vice Chairman Pahari Board Kuldeep Raj Gupta called on Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and urged her to look into the problems of Pahari speaking community.
He informed the Chief Minister that Pahari community is distributed throughout the State with their major pockets at the foothills of the Pir-Panchal range rolling down to the Pothohar plateau. “The community has major presence in Poonch, Rajouri, Baramulla, Kupwara, Anantnang, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam, Ganderbal and Bandipora districts”, he said adding, “Though in 1947 the disastrous partition brought critical demographic changes in the entire State, yet the worst hit were the Paharis”.
He demanded mobile schools, five per cent reservation, ST status etc for the Pahari community.
After listening to the issues of Pahari community, the Chief Minister assured Kuldeep Raj for speedy redressal of problems.
