Many delegations call on Azad, extend support

JAMMU: A number of delegations called on former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on his maiden visit to Jammu & Kashmir after his resignation from Congress party. Apart from addressing a public meeting on his arrival, Azad met more than 350 delegations cutting across region, religion and sections from all 43 constituencies of Jammu region. The people, from various delegations, who called on Azad, extended full support in all his future endeavours.
A deputation of All Migrant (Displaced) Employees Association Kashmir (AMEAK) also called on Ghulam Nabi Azad and submitted a memorandum of demands, highlight their genuine demands which are pending for a long time. The members briefed the leaders that KP employees posted in valley are on indefinite protest from last 116 days after martyrdom of their colleague Rahul Bhat, who was brutally murdered by terrorist at his work place, Tehsil office Chadoora Budgam. They further stated that fear-psychosis among valley-posted Hindu employees has elevated extremely after successive killings of other employees in valley like Rajni Bala, Vijay Kumar etc. While interacting with the visiting delegation, Azad said that killings must immediately stop. He further assured that return & rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits back to valley will not be done forcefully. He further said that he would take up the issues like withholding of salaries of employees with concerned at the earliest. Pertinent to mention here that the employees are demanding that they should be allowed to work outside the Valley till normalcy prevails. The employees are seeking relocation, attachment, deployment or deputation at Relief Commissioner’s office or any other office in Jammu till conditions became conducive in valley.
Besides political delegations, many delegations from civil society, unemployed youth, refugees, Kashmiri Pandits, PoJK migrants, Rajput Sabha Jammu & Kathua, Christian Peace Missionaries, Jammu Adhikar Manch, Traders Federation and Bar Association also called on Azad and apprised him about their concerns and grievances. Azad gave a patient hearing to each and every delegation separately and thanked them for their wholehearted support. He further assured for taking up their genuine demands with concerned authorities.
