NEW DELHI: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) strongly reacted over the statements of Dr. Hina Bhat, BJP candidate Amirakadal Constituency and Swami Agnivesh, who threatened to take up the gun and warned for dire consequences, respectively, if Article 370 is abrogated from the State of J and K.
Kundan Kashmiri, President KPC, in a meeting held here on Friday stated that abrogation of Article 370 is need of the hour and is in the overall interest of the State adding that its abrogation will open doors for the development and prosperity of all the three regions of the State.
He further said that abrogation of Article 370 is a commitment of party leadership including Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi, who were demanding its abrogation in the Parliament since decades and the same was highlighted even on the first day of the budget session on 7th July, 2014 in Rajya Sabha by Tarun Vijay Member Parliament BJP and others. “They have put this issue in their election manifesto during recently held parliamentary elections in the country. Therefore, BJP which is in power at the Center could not back out from its promises made with the nationalist forces of the country in general and with Kashmiri Pandits in particular who were victim of the same Article in the Valley”, he said. He also reminded BJP leadership that the sacrifice for the said cause given by late Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and humiliation faced by Kashmiri Pandits and others cannot be forgotten or ignored.
KPC Chief further stated that Dr. Hina Bhat’s opposition of BJP’s stand over Article 370 just to appease Muslim voters of his constituency is an ill-conceived idea because with this move she will lose the sympathy and support of majority of Kashmiri Pandit voters and others.
KPC demanded that BJP should include abrogation of Article 370 in their election manifesto in ongoing State elections along with other vital issues of KP community and mandate to Dr. Hina Bhat from BJP to be withdrawn along with termination of her membership from party.
Dr. T.K Bhat, Tej Pandita, R.L Raina, Susheel Bhat, S.L Zutshi, Nana Dhar, Ashok Raina, M.l Mattoo and Rinku Razdan also spoke on the occasion.
