Kohli alleges Govt. neglecting flood victims
KALAKOT: A social and political activist from Kalakote, Abdul Gani Kohli has alleged that administration has totally failed to provide relief to rainfall affected areas of Rajouri District. He alleged that government has totally neglected the border district which has suffered immense damages due to massive rains which lashed the State since 3rd September.
In a statement, Kohli said that in different areas of Kalakote such as Badhal, Khas, Kot Chadwal, Lala Bambal, Lachani, Darang, Hari Chamna people are awaiting relief and rescue but administration is not doing enough.
“Hundreds of people have been displaced due to the recent rain fall and there has been devastation in the entire Rajouri District. Government and Indian Army should take immediate measures to provide relief to the affected people”, Kohli said.
The State witnessed the most devastating flood and it caused loss to almost every region of the State. Leaders visited every area and provided help in terms of essential services. But the case is not same with the Pir Panjal region which comprises of Rajouri and Poonch Districts. This region suffered maximum number of casualties in last one week but no one visited to hear the cries of the people, he said.
Lambasting the government of showing step motherly attitude towards the region, Kohli said that every minister visited the affected areas but no one visited this region. Even the local administration did not visit the areas except the few in cities. He added that heavy loss occurred in Poonch, Surankote, Mendhar, Balakote, Mankote, Nowshera, Rajouri, Thanamandi, Drahal and Kalakote areas of the region.
Kohli demanded that government should provide the an immediate help to those who lost their houses. They should be provided with tents, blankets, food and other essential items, he maintained.
