KCPS students shine at Global Conference

JAMMU: Six students of KC Public School escorted by their teacher Sonia Thakur took part in a week-long Global Conference co-hosted by both boys’ and girls’ wings of famed Mayo College in Ajmer recently. KCPS was the only school from Jammu and Kashmir invited to the conference.
The delegates in the age group of 11 to 13 were Karan Jain, Hanumat Sharma, Mishika Mittal, Sanjali Suri, Jai Vikrant and Raghav Gupta. About 300 delegates from various countries including India, China, Kenya, Canada, Oman and UAE attended the conference. The theme of the conference ‘Every Drop Counts’ aimed at underpinning the significance of conservation of water resources on planet earth.
KCPS delegates impressed everyone with their impeccable conduct, exceptional enthusiasm and keen interest in everything during the conference.
The first day of the Conference began with a dazzling opening ceremony at Bikaner Pavilion at Mayo College and ended with a gala dance and music show organised by girls and boys of Mayo College at Kangra Open Air Theatre.
Eminent experts from various fields were invited to the conference to engage the delegates in a variety of activities such as barazza discussions and hands-on activities. These included Geeta Ramanujan, Director of Kathalaya Trust, Dadi Pudumjee, famous puppeteer, Meghna Erande, well-known dubbing artist, Siddharth Chakravarti, marine conservationist and animation artist Lakshmi Dhaul. The delegates were also taken to different adventure and service destinations in Rajasthan during the conference. KCPS delegates went to Boondi in southern Rajasthan and visited Hadoti Fort on their way.
For community service, they went to a local orphanage and joined other delegates in several service-related activities. In the multi-cultural evening during the conference, delegates showcased their respective cultures in the form of music, dance and other performing arts and KCPS delegates presented a Dogri folk dance on the occasion.
On the concluding evening of the conference, world-renowned classical dancer Meera Das enthralled the delegates with her Odissi performance at Kangra Open Air Theatre.
After their return from the Conference, KCPS delegates shared their experiences with their school mates and parents in a special gathering in the school activity hall and also underlined the significance of the theme ‘Every Drop Counts’ through a video presentation, a puppet show and a street play performed by the children of class 2.
Arti Chowdhary, Director of School, congratulated the delegates for their exemplary performance during the conference and also gave away their participation certificates.
